Organic Cowboy by Dennis Hughes He was riding the trail on a bright sunny day To the Vitamin Sea near Nutrient Bay On his stallion Hightail he clip-clopped along An organic cowboy with a ten gallon song He's a Nutrition Ranger with his eyeglasses on To read the fine print and unveil the long con Many product labels are too tiny and too long With few ingredients it's harder to go wrong He'll round up the rustlers with his hemp lariat He'll tongue-tie the hustlers he's a poet laureate He patrols all the aisles for ingredients alarming And organic cowboys don't like factory farming All the ad agencies they tickle and they tease With catchy slogans like "Nibble one of these!" Or "Like a tasty tidal wave, a savory tsunami" And "It melts in your mouth, yummy and umami" Giant farms and feed mills across the U.S. plains Where sagebrush rolls there's not much open range Cows that ate grass now munch on corn and grains While humans go to hunt in supermarket chains He'll round up the rustlers with his hemp lariat He'll tongue-tie the hustlers he's a poet laureate He patrols all the aisles for ingredients alarming And organic cowboys don't like factory farming |
